Dance is our Medicine:
Dance and movement are affirmations of aliveness and the mystery of life.
Through movement we can get in touch with the gifts, talents, wisdom, vitality and resources that are contained within our bodies. We activate our life energy, creativity, joy, awareness and self-healing forces and tap into own innate “dance medicine”.
Allowing our bodies to lead the way, we can remember our bodies and ourselves. We enhance creativity, capacity and fitness of brain + body. We can move out of depression into expression and exploration, opening to the mystery of life more and more. Through increasing our repertoire of motion, emotion, strength and expression in both our body and psyche, we blaze new trails in our brains and find new solutions, no matter what our age. We explore new possibilities and find new ways to truly be ourselves.
Movement is our Meditation:
In Core Connexion we connect to the body and return to our center. We come home to the body. Here we invite presence, the quality of being fully in the moment. Body and breath are our guides.
The body always lives in the present, the mind does not. The body is like a magnet for the moment. Through perceiving the moment through bodily sensations, we can invite presence and the union of body, mind and spirit can happen. We can connect to the core, where all potential lies.
The Practice is our refuge:
In Core Connexion we build an inner safety net for ourselves that can be accessed through our practice – a feeling of homecoming when we enter our bodies and the dance floor: a feeling of embodied center. No matter how we show up to the practice, we always come out changed by the dance. On the dance floor we get to know the territory of the self – both alone and in relationship. We access our own intelligence of feeling, sensing and moving. The dance floor becomes a metaphor for life and a place for experimentation and practice.
Why practice weekly?
It takes time and practice to establish a deep sensory connection to the body and our core as we are literally rebuilding our neural networks in a more supportive way for our lives.
It takes presence, discipline and an openness to listen to and follow the inner dance as it presents itself in the present moment. It takes practice to “get out of the way” of ourselves, and follow the dance instead of our own expectations.
The Community is our resource:
Coming together in practice is like gathering around a fire for warmth, which can nurture us throughout the week. As research has shown, being with and practicing in community promotes healing as it gives participants a feeling of connection, interconnection and reminds us of our humanness. Together we can create new tools for a changing world.
